I think less, I feel more.
I frown less, I smile more.
I talk less, I do more.
I complain less, I appreciate more.
I fear less, I love more.

Ok, back to the GPA.  For the 1st semester, I got 5 A’s and 3 B’s. What B’s!

Otomatis saya kecewa dong. Wah, saya malah ditanyain balik, “IP kamu berapa, Grith?” (dosen pun ikut-ikutan nanya IP, takut tersaingi kali ya). Ya, saya kasih tau aja sejujurnya. Sukses deh... saya dapat ceramah singkat. “ IP kamu itu udah cumlaude, disukurin dong. Gimana dengan teman-teman kamu yang ip nya 2 koma-an?”  I was just silent that moment.

Dan akhirnya kakak senior saya bilang, “you must remember that God always see His people who are honest in doing everything. Just give your best, dear. God dwells within you too.”

So, IP cukup penting, but not too much!

That’s all about GPA! Bye -_-

Organizations and Competition

Talented people will not be able to develop if they just hide their talent. Therefore, there is an organization, so at least I thought so. Organization is assessed as "numero uno" in disciplin by the people , yeap punctual! But to me it is simple, organization is a place where we find our own hobby. Oh yeah? Yes, of course!
Organization is not only one, but there are many kinds. There are some in the field of health, politics, media, spiritual / religious, language and literature, and more. So everyone has the opportunity to determine their own interest. And in an organization, your  talents honed and developed into an incredible soft kills.

I am not the type of person who just visit classes, come and listen to the lecturers. Oh no! I love doing new things, learn something unique, outgoing, and compete with others. Rather, I'm classed as being curious. Okay, since I have started to organize in junior high school and now is continuing to college.
Now I am active in two organizations. The first is FISH CLUB (Faculty of Social and Politic English Club). Here I can develop my debate skills. But the organization is not only the organization of English language. We held a voluntering. So, we will teach children in the orphanage as volunteers. This is one form of our attention on the community.

Last December, University of Sumatera Utara (USU) held a competition to represent  National University English Debate Competition(NUEDC ). Well, I was one of the elected representatives of 8 debaters of the Faculty of Social and Politic. Well, just imagine! 6 months I didn’t debate, and now suddenly called for debate. Wow -_- It could conceivably result. While the opponent is a participant of  NUEDC last year. Strange isn’t it ?
There is a lot that needs to be developed in Fish Club. I am one of the trustees, as the Head of the External Division really hope Fish Club can develop, especially in the debate.

My other organization is Science Incubator. Yes, at first glance, it is like an organization for natural sciences, exact sciences students. But, it is not. Inkubs (That’s how we called it) is an organization to develop writing. The difference is, here we are required to write scientifically. No longer a fictitious stories, dramatically to force us to shed tears. All written based on rational argument based on its own or was done by a research team. To join this organization, you have to follow the selection first. Yesterday, our selectionis  in the form of an essay competition. The winner is Frichilia of the Faculty of Literary and Cultural. I was disappointed, because I also worked on the essay carefully enough to follow the spelling and the good diction. But yeah never mind, maybe technical errors such as font size and blablabla. They said Cici  in high school was an editor of her school magazine. So, I was pretty confident with her abilities.

Finally, Inkubs held a contest to write the article. Well, the best will be posted  by  Research and Scientific Writing Division (SELECT) Inkubs.
Themes of articles  was determined by them, we choosed the topics and wrote.
And, after a few weeks, the results were announced.
Here it is the best article:

7 Interesting  Hotspot Culinary in Medan by Egritha Tampubolon

7 Intresting Hotspot in Medan by Frichicilia GS

My life
water by Elvi SAHARA

I am very happy! Haha. Finally I am able to work and also have an achievement in Inkubs. Hopefully it can carry a number of other outstanding achievements.

So, guys the message is keep doing what you love! I love writing and I will keep writing! What about you?

Cheer,

Egritha

CHRISTMAS in 2012

This is 2013 already. But, I just wanna write about the last Christmas I had. I spent the holy event in my college, home, and schoolmate (as an alumnus). Well, December was really a busy month but still beautiful.

I was given a big responsibility for some events. As an alumnus from high school, I was choosen as the committee of Christmas event. And in my college, I had my part in procession (procession is an opening which is sacred ; with some dancing angels followed by the Priest and the committe). So, I became an angel here. The two events went so great.

For Christmas night, I spent it in the church at my hometown Pematangsiantar. My sister Weny did not come for Christmas because she was doing exam that time. But, my cousins Kak Helen and her husband Bang Manurung, Kak Tina, Kak Nelly, and Bang Rudol from Boston were here. I really had great time with them. I was glad especially for Bang Rudol, he gave me some motivation and nice advices. (FYI, Bang Rudol is a candidate of Fullbright Scholarship for Ph.D).
Once we had dinner together. We got IFU mie (kind of Chinnese noodle).
Me : Bang!
Bang Rudol: Yup..
Me : Bang, how it tastes?
Bang : It’s very nice.
Me :Oh, really? Maybe that’s why you eat so fast?
Bang : Haha, right. You know Egri? American eats so fast because they appreciate time. But, most of Indonesian esp women eats with style, so slow and late. (we are laughing together)
