Claude Bernard Biography (Biologist)

Bernard was born in 1813 in the village of Saint-Julien near Villefranche-sur-Saône. He received his early education in the Jesuit school of that town, and then proceeded to the college at Lyon, which, however, he soon left to become assistant in a druggist's shop. His leisure hours were devoted to the composition of a vaudeville comedy, and the success it achieved moved him to attempt a prose drama in five acts, Arthur de Bretagne.

At the age of twenty-one in 1834 he went to Paris, armed with this play and an introduction to Saint-Marc Girardin, but the critic dissuaded him from adopting literature as a profession, and urged him rather to take up the study of medicine. This advice Bernard followed, and in due course he became interne at the Hotel Dieu. In this way he was brought into contact with the great physiologist, François Magendie, who was physician to the hospital, and whose official 'preparateur' at the Collège de France he became in 1841.

In 1845 Bernard married Françoise Marie (Fanny) Martin for convenience; the marriage was arranged by a colleague and her dowry helped finance his experiments. In 1847 he was appointed Magendie's deputy-professor at the college, and in 1855 he succeeded him as full professor. Some time previously Bernard had been chosen the first occupant of the newly-instituted chair of physiology at the Sorbonne. There no laboratory was provided for his use, but Louis Napoleon, after an interview with him in 1864, supplied the deficiency, at the same time building a laboratory at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in the Jardin des Plantes, and establishing a professorship, which Bernard left the Sorbonne to accept in 1868, the year in which he was admitted a member of the Académie française. In the same year he was elected a foreign member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

When he died he was accorded a public funeral – an honor which had never before been bestowed by France on a man of science. He was interred in Le Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris.

Chales Darwin Biography (Biologist)

Charles Robert Darwin (12 February 1809 – 19 April 1882) was an English naturalist who showed that all species of life have descended over time from common ancestors, and proposed the scientific theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection. He published his theory with compelling evidence for evolution in his 1859 book On the Origin of Species. The scientific community and much of the general public came to accept evolution as a fact in his lifetime, but it was not until the emergence of the modern evolutionary synthesis from the 1930s to the 1950s that a broad consensus developed that natural selection was the basic mechanism of evolution. In modified form, Darwin's scientific discovery is the unifying theory of the life sciences, explaining the diversity of life.

Darwin's early interest in nature led him to neglect his medical education at the University of Edinburgh; instead, he helped to investigate marine invertebrates. Studies at the University of Cambridge encouraged his passion for natural science. His five-year voyage on HMS Beagle established him as an eminent geologist whose observations and theories supported Charles Lyell's uniformitarian ideas, and publication of his journal of the voyage made him famous as a popular author.

Puzzled by the geographical distribution of wildlife and fossils he collected on the voyage, Darwin investigated the transmutation of species and conceived his theory of natural selection in 1838. Although he discussed his ideas with several naturalists, he needed time for extensive research and his geological work had priority. He was writing up his theory in 1858 when Alfred Russel Wallace sent him an essay which described the same idea, prompting immediate joint publication of both of their theories. Darwin's work established evolutionary descent with modification as the dominant scientific explanation of diversification in nature. In 1871, he examined human evolution and sexual selection in The Descent of Man, and Selection in Relation to Sex, followed by The Expression of the Emotions in Man and Animals. His research on plants was published in a series of books, and in his final book, he examined earthworms and their effect on soil.

In recognition of Darwin's pre-eminence as a scientist, he was one of only five 19th-century UK non-royal personages to be honoured by a state funeral, and was buried in Westminster Abbey, close to John Herschel and Isaac Newton.

Pengalaman ini terjadi waktu gue duduk di kelas I sma. (Yee,, sekarang juga masih kelas I sma). Okeh, gue tambahin waktu gue kelas I SMA di semester I. Sebenarnya ini pengalaman terjadi sma temen gue, namanya VERONIKA.

Ok, langsung ajah. NGGAK NGASIH GURU MASUK # NOW PLAYING

Guru bidang studinya gak masuk. Of course, semua langsung ambil kegiatan masing-masing. Gue baca-baca buku aja. Temen-temen gue, Veronika, Dewi, Romega dan Eka maen kejar-kejaran. Maklumlah, they had a sorrow experince when they were children. hehehe.
Mereka saling memberi gaya. But Karna, Vero gak sekuat HULK, pintunya agak terbuka. Dan gue liat lengan baju batik. Gue langsung teriak, "woii... pak GR itu!!". Vero langsung terdorong dan pintunya terbuka. JRENG-JRENG-JRENG... Ternyata yang orang yang gedor-gedor pintu bukan Dewi tapi Guru, pak GR. Vero pucat bukan main. "Siapa masuk sekarang????!!!" bentak pak GR. "T...T...TI...TIK.. p...pak!!" jawab Vero gugup. Kami semua nganga karna liat kaki Vero gemetaran. "Gak bisa kalian baca buku kalian??" tanya pak GR lagi. "BISA,, PAK!!" kami menjawab. Lalu setelah ngasih tugas, pak GR keluar. Serentak kami semua tertawa ngakak. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...............
LUCU BANGET!! lucu banget muka Vero yang ketakutan. HAHAHAHA.... Aku diam aja disampingnya."
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Kami tertawa lagi...
